Abstract:
The development of antibiotic resistant bacteria is associated with significant morbidity and mortality in hospital setting. We postulated that the scheduled change of antibiotic classes decrease the colonization and infection with pathogenic organisms. Three core , broad spectrum agents active against nosocomila gram positive and gram negative organisms (Cephalosporins, beta- lactam inhibitors, fluoroquinolones) were selected for inclusion in the quaternary rotation for 21 months based on prior 8 months baseline data from GIT and urology surgical wards in Ibn Sina hospital.
